'You need to watch your tone, because it's not her fault': Wife stands up for employee when husband tries to pull a Karen

It's our duty to keep the Karen inside of us all in check, though, sometimes you might need a little help from your partner to do so.

  • Let's be honest, we all have the ability to be a Karen deep down. Luckily, we were raised better than that and know to keep that part of us in check. You can't just blow up at someone when you don't get your way. That's just the bare minimum you can do to keep society a bearable place. Unfortunately, many are unable to keep their Karen-selves contained and they run rampant torturing service industry employees all over the world. 

    However, Reddit user Gardens106 has proven that even if you have a little trouble keeping that Karen part of you locked up, you can find a partner who can help you with that. This Redditor is an employee at an appliance store. A couple came in to return a faulty dryer. Now, dryers are no cheap appliance, so it's understandable to be upset when your large purchase doesn't work. But that does NOT give you any reason to be mean. The husband started to really go full-Karen on this poor employee until the wife came to the rescue and put him back in his place. 

    Now that is love!

    Right from the get-go his tone was you could tell that he was upset but trying to restrain himself. Which I appreciated. I understood that he was just trying to do right by his mom and that he was not upset at me directly but rather the circumstances.

Yeah last time I had a problem like this I did not really know how to react so this time I offered what help I could.     decompressing and he's super appreciative - that also adds even more peace to the communication. Imagine a year ago instead of me doing that but instead not giving space and yelling - got us nowhere real fast. Switching off makes a world of difference.     dumbalter 1 day ago i mean i get it i've been there but i don't understand how people get angry like that. the worst i've done is cried to a customer service employee and they actually helped me even tho they weren't supposed to. like i couldn't return it but i could exchange it and return the new one but they weren't supposed to tell me that.

    workers absolutely understand the emotion being on the other side of it, but they aren't going to sympathize when you're treating them like (although i know sometimes there is genuinely nothing they could do). that's a good wife, i hope if i ever do go full crazy someday and act up like that someone is there to pull me back too. 47 Reply Share
